Dr. Deborah A. O’Malley is associate director of the Center for Citizenship and Constitutional Government at the University of Notre Dame. She previously served as a postdoctoral fellow in the James Madison Program at Princeton University, where she continued to researched First Amendment freedom of religion and freedom of association jurisprudence. She then taught political science at Assumption University for four years and served as associate director of Assumption’s Daniel Patrick Moynihan Center for Scholarship and Statesmanship. She holds a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Ashland University and a Ph.D. in political science from Baylor University, where she focused her research on the freedom of religious institutions in the American legal tradition.
